Education Consultant

After many years teaching in primary, special and secondary settings in Coventry and a lengthy spell in the local authority's advisory service starting with the TVEI initiative, then general advisory and inspection work and finishing as the authority's adviser for Expressive Arts, Physical Education, and management of the Music and Outdoor Education Services, he formed an independent education consultancy - GKPartnership - in 1997, joined by his wife, Gina Wallis, in 2000.

The consultancy's role includes research, development and training in education, the arts and physical education. GKPartnership has worked for many government agencies - including the DCFS, DCMS, Arts Council England and Sport England, governing bodies of sport, a number of local authorities, individual schools and charities such as the Youth Sport Trust.

As a previous Ofsted inspector he gained valuable experience and insights into accrediting the excellent work in schools. As a consequence, Keith was instrumental in the development of Activemark and Sportsmark for Sport England; developed and wrote with one other consultant, Artsmark - is still heavily involved as part of the project team and assessor; and was part of the project team that developed the Leading Aspect Award. He is currently part of the Management Group, a mentor, a verifier and an assessor.

Along with other work, Keith is now an Arts Award moderator and has for many years been a child protection and safeguarding consultant working with many groups to raise awareness of the issues around safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. He is currently working towards retirement having spent 49 years in education and training.

He is actively involved with his professional association - The Association for Physical Education (afPE). Currently he is a Board member, a member of the finance committee and of the Safety Panel; he is also chair and treasurer of afPE Heart of England region. Keith is also the association's Safeguarding officer. He has been actively involved in the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry as a Board member and latterly on the board of the Belgrade venture Limited - a company investing in the theatre.
